Book: The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg
Book Beginning:
Pulaski, Wisconsin, June 28, 2010. 'A few years ago, if someone had told me that I would be at this reunion today, I wouldn't have believed them in a million years...And yet, here I am!'---Mrs. Earle Poole, Jr.Friday 56:
Who would name their child Ginger? We had a golden retriever named Ginger.Comment:
The Book Beginning quote comes from the epigram at the beginning of the book but it isn't from someone famous. It is by the main character in the book. Flagg is so clever. Page 56 is actually right at the point in the story when the plot unfolds so my quote is a little obtuse so as to not give anything away.
I loved this book! Hope you are enjoying it. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI actually had a conversation about the name Ginger the other day, so it's funny to see it pop up in your post! I was wondering about the beginning because I didn't recognize the name but then it made sense! I hadn't heard of this book or author and I don't know whether it's for me but it does sound like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

I've heard so many good things about this book. I really need to add it to my list.
ReplyDeleteI love Fannie Flag. An all-girl filling station sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't like reunions either...especially high school ones. :)
Thanks for sharing, and enjoy this book. It sounds good.

My Book Beginnings
I have never read any Fannie Flag and I have been told my many people that I should! I kind of like the name Ginger. It reminds me of Ginger Rogers who I loved when I was in a classic movie kick back in college. The excerpts sound great!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great book! I actually like the name Ginger, but I have not personally meant anyone with the name. I might have to read this one.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday 56
Had to laugh at the 56... I agree a little too is why I laughed. Oops. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
I still think Ginger is a good name.
ReplyDeleteLOL Ginger is a name I mostly associate with dogs or horses but I've heard of a few people with it. I read one Fannie Flagg book and it didn't wow me but maybe I should try again. I like the snippets.
ReplyDeleteVery cute cover.
