"Typealyzer" my blog. (Myers-Briggs)

If you have ever taken the Myers-Briggs Personality profile, you know that you answer a bunch of questions that identify your dominant personality traits. I've taken the test several times and I usually end up as a INFJ personality type. That means I'm an Intoverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judger.

If I plug my blog into the Typealyer---

The analysis indicates that the author of http://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com is of the type:

ESTP - The Doers (Extroverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiver)

The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

According to the typealyzer the persona that I portray in my writing is exactly opposite of the real me, which doesn't seem right. First off, how can analysis of my writing identify me as a person who can't sit still?  I read all the time, for goodness sake. It also identifies me as someone who loves outdoor activities.  How does it get that? I do like reading outside but I'm not one of those people who runs outside all the time.

The web master of Typealyzer, Mattias Ostmar, says as if in response to my questions:
"Any writer might think it is important to sound “serious”, “personal” or “fun” or be under a lot of stress or feeling relaxed. This text analysis gives a snapshot of the persona by looking at the communication style of the text in the moment it was written. Looking on the results over a period of time will, however, tell you something about how a blogger “normally” prefer to communicate, but it might still be a blog that more reflects a role than how the blogger feels inside."
Whether you believe the results or not, it is fun and very easy to typealyze your blog.  Just type in your web address and VOILA!

What is your blog's personaility type? I'd be curious to know if there are a lot of differences out there.

***Thank you Karen at Morsie Reads for pointing this site out to me.

  1. That's pretty neat. When I did mine, I'm ESFP - The Performers. In real-life I am not extrovert at all. I also love planning, which is the opposite of my blog type. Although I'm not sure how that works since I plan out everything I post. Interesting to see though.

  2. Thanks for posting about it...It's about 50/50 correct on my. I, like Sarah, am supposed to be ESFP. Here's the full scoop: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/09/typealze-my-blog.html

  3. On Myers Briggs I am always an ESFJ, but I just put my blog in and they claim it is an ESFP, a Performer. How come all three of your commenters are the same?!

  4. I was completely in the feeler category:
    ESFP - The Performers
    [ESFP]
The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

I don't live enough in the present moment and can be confrontational. Otherwise, it may(?) be accurate.

  5. I got the very same analysis and I think it's startling that I'm considered not very good at planning or getting things done. I'm a teacher! :D It's interesting that our writing is full of energy and that the analyst presumes that with energy comes a lack of focus or ability to see things through. Hmm....
