2011 Banned Books Week-Day 6- "Those Who Ban Books"

Those Who Ban Books
by Maya Angelou
They were scared of sexes and hexes
and multi-colored sheets.

And men and women doing even
consensual things.

They banned a same-sex marriage room
and Judy Blume.

Charles Dicken Chickin-Lickin and
Why the Caged Bird Sings.

(An original poem by Maya Angelou for Random House Incorporated Magazine, Vol 3, No.1)
