The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice.
Check out the links for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Participants don't select their favorite, coolest or most intellectual books, they just use the one they are currently reading.
I'm reading---

Book Beginnings:
Marina once told me that we only remember what never really happened. It would take me a lifetime to understand what those words meant.Friday 56:
I slid through the gate. Bright flashes of lightning guided me to the house, where I was greeted by the grinning mermaid in the fountain. Trembling with cold, I reached the kitchen door at the back of the old mansion. It was open. I went in.My thoughts:
I love the opening comment. I tend to agree that we really only remember what has never happened anywhere except in our own heads.
This book is considered a gothic tale. The library put a HORROR sticker on it. I've read another book in the same genre by this author and found it quite frightening. We'll see if this one, recently translated from Spanish, will be similarly hair-raising.
