Friday Quotes: When the Moon Was Ours

Book Beginnings on Friday is hosted by Rose City ReaderShare the opening quote from the book.
Th
e Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's VoiceFind a quote from page 56.

Check out the links for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Participants don't select their favorite, coolest, or most intellectual books, they just use the one they are currently reading. This is the book I'm reading right now---

Title: When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore

Books Beginning...The epigraph:
"To the boys who get called girls,
the girls who get called boys,
and those who live outside these words.
To those called names,
and those searching for names of their own.
To those who live on the edges,
and in the spaces in between.
I wish for you every light in the sky."

Friday 56:
"Aracely washed out a blue glass jar, the inside milky from when she'd used it during a lovesickness cure. The mix of water and egg always resisted coming clean."

Comments:
This is a lovely, lovely book I just finished reading earlier this week. I think the epigraph sets the reader up perfectly for what is to come in the story, or at least a branch of the story.

I've taken a hiatus from Book Beginnings and Friday 56, not posting since late October but I am back with a new delightful book I can highly recommend.

  7. Sounds like a beautiful story. I like the opening a lot, and the 56 excerpt makes me curious about the character who creates the lovesickness cure.
