Top Ten Tuesday: Hilarious book titles

Broke and Bookish

This Top Ten Tuesday is a catch-up week.  A chance to create a top ten list that was previously missed.  My top ten rewind is a list of book titles that I think are hilarious... (I think the titles are funny enough that I don't need any explanation!)

1.  The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big, Round Things by Carolyn Mackler
2.  The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs by Alexander McCall Smith
3.  Fat Kid Rules the World by K.L. Going
4. The Shepherd, the Angel, and Walter the Christmas Miracle Dog by Dave Barry
5.  Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems
6.  Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging: Confessions of Georgia Nicholson by Louise Rennison
7.  How to Not Be Popular by Jennifer Zeigler
8.  I Now Pronounce You Someone Else by Erin McCahan
9.  You Suck: a Love Story by Christopher Moore
10. Zombies vs Unicorns edited by Holly Black
11. Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn

Do you have any favorite funny book titles?

  1. I think numbers 1 and 5 are the best out of the lot. I would also love to read Zombies Vs. Unicorns. I've heard good things about it and I remember someone tweeting quotes from it and they were very entertaining.

I can't think of any funny titles and can't see any in the the bookshelf. I think it's so much easier for funny titles in children's books. My mum has some classics on her shelf (she collects them for the grandkids).

  4. I have always wanted to read The Earth, my Butt and Other Round Things on the title alone! You Suck: A Love Story is intriquing. One of my favorite funny titles is Love, Betrayal, and Hold the Mayo.

  8. Haha good titles! I would also have to add The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson - I LOL'd through most of it.

  9. Zombies vs. Unicorns, huh? Since I've lately been addicted to Plants vs. Zombies (the game), maybe I should try that one out!

  16. Great list. All of Alexander McCall Smith's books have wonderful titles.

Here's one that is sitting on my shelf that I picked up just because I liked the title: Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog!

Here's my post for Top Ten Tuesday, a list of the books that most intimidate me.

And I'll be part of the Easter Eggstravaganza Blog Hop Giveaway that begins tomorrow. I hope you will stop by my blog and enter my giveaways to try to win some great prizes.

  20. Lol. This is such a great "top ten" topic. I love 1, 6, and 10. I haven't heard of Zombies vs Unicorns before, but it's definitely now on my TBR list - I'm hoping it's going to be EPIC! hehe

Thanks for visiting my Top Ten for this week :)

I knew from the synopsis of Thirteen Reasons Why that I was going to be crying my eyes out. And I did, but it was a really touching read and a story one could really connect with Jessica and her audiotape narrative. But I totally was wearing a hoodie after I finished reading it to hide my cried out eyes.

  23. The other day I was looking up Earth Day books and The Earth, my Butt and Other Round Things came up. Lol, I don't think its about Earth Day things, but it made me laugh anyway.

  24. Nice selection for your list. Of all the blogs listed in the Linky that I read, you were the only one to pick this one.

I Now Pronounce You Someone Else sounds really interesting, even though I would prefer it to be some sort of sociological, non-fiction social commentary, whereas the cover makes it look like quite the opposite.

  25. Yay for Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! That's a perennial favorite at our house (in addition to all of its sequels and Willems' Elephant and Piggie books).

I thought Carrie Fisher's title/cover "Wishful Drinking" was pretty clever, though I haven't read the book yet.

  26. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Ella Minnow Pea being funny...it is a take on the alphabet LMNOP. Get it? Ha! (The book is a hoot, too)

  27. I think this is the rare list I missed, too! Grat choices.
