SOTH Choir singing Gloria Deo Cantata |
25 flakes: yesterday I happened to be looking out the window when it snowed about 25 flakes of snow. That was it. Today the temperatures are starting to warm up. Perhaps all this cold weather will not be a snow-event for us. Rats!
The cantata: Today our choir took over the whole worship service for their Cantata. I was one of the narrators, reading the scripture prior to them singing about it afterwards. It was lovely, especially with the addition of the string quartet.
New Christmas music: once again I've been prowling around trying to find new-to-me holiday songs. Here are a few I found this week.

Carly's home and 25! Carly got home from New York 4 hours late but she's here and today she turns 25-years-old. How did that happen? Where did the years go? Yesterday we went to have dinner with Rita and Dan and celebrated her birthday with them. Rita cooked us a delicious lasagna dinner and I brought in the birthday cake: chocolate with chocolate frosting. Everything was yummy.
Book read this week:
- My Lady Jane by Hand, Ashton, and Meadows...a very funny retelling of the Lady Jane Grey story. I laughed my way through it. Highly recommend.
Currently reading:
- When Breathe Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi...my current audiobook which I found at the book sale for a dollar. The author died of cancer before the book was published. Insightful. Progress: 40%.
- A Tangle of Gold by Jaclyn Moriarty....the third book in the Colors of Madeleine series. I love the series but have lost some momentum on this book. Progress: 19%.
Hummingbird: Our little Anna's Hummingbird is still hanging around. Don caught this one on film after it landed on the feeder a moment after he hung it back up after a night in the house (so the nectar wouldn't freeze.)
Have a good week. We're off to do some shopping and then bake a few cookies!
Happy Birthday to Carly! My baby will soon be 27; how did that happen? :) Is that Lindsay Martin singing in the front of the choir? It sure looks like her. Great young lady!
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been all over the place here - snowing, freezing rain, rain. It went from -1 to 47 degrees within a couple of days!
ReplyDeleteI liked but didn't love Breath. However, I am in the minority...I read so many rave reviews of this book.

Thx for the Christmas music. I also listened to When Breathe Becomes Air -- it shook me -- so sad. especially the wife's epilogue at the end. so young, he was.
ReplyDeleteLovely music video, as always, Anne - I enjoy those when I visit your blog!
ReplyDeleteI recently read When Breath Becomes Air, too. It's very good. Watch out for that last chapter & have the tissues ready - better pull over if you're listening in the car!
I hadn't heard of My Lady Jane, but it sounds good!
Enjoy your books this week - and the holiday with your family!
