The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice.
Check out the links for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Participants don't select their favorite, coolest or most intellectual books, they just use the one they are currently reading.

Book Beginnings:
While I was still in Amsterdam, I dreamed about my mother for the first time in years.Friday 56:
Though I didn't understand why he [Dad] was so unhappy, it was clear to me that his unhappiness was our fault. My mother and I got on his nerves.Comments: Everyone seems to be talking about this book. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction this year. So far, however, two things are pretty clear---this is not a book about a happy boy/man; and the book weighs a ton!
Progress: page 62 of 771. I just started reading it today.
If you've read the book, I'd love to hear what you thought of it. If not, what do you think about the opening line and the quote from page 56?
