I absolutely love the opening line of Pride and Prejudice. It really sets the tone and plot for the entire story. Great list!

Oh my gosh, I need to read Jellicoe Road. That's the second quote I've seen and it totally shook me. Great choices!! I am loving this week's prompt and seeing all of these first lines. I probably need to make it a habit to read the first line of all of my TBR shelf books. I'd probably pick them up a lot quicker.

Oh me! A chart. A beautiful chart. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your new (to-me) header. Perfect!
Here's my list of favorite first lines.
Love this! Particularly Feed, Jellicoe Road, Peter Pan, Middlesex, and A Series of Unfortunate Events: A Bad Beginning.
ReplyDeleteAhh so many of these books are absolute favourites of mine! I like how you charted it, I had some issues trying how to figure out how to format mine so it wasn't horrible to wade through. Should have done this! (Although I'm not sure how one does THIS)
ReplyDeleteI just copy and pasted the chart from WORD. I can't figure out the formatting on blogger either and waste a ton of time getting pictures where I want them, etc. If you look at the HTML it is a hilariously long.
DeleteAhhh I love these first lines! They're all so good. :)
