Head Full of Books Blogoversary Giveaway, Day 1

July is my Blogoversary. I began blogging four years ago. My mission: to communicate with my readers about books I recommend, especially YA literature. Since I began blogging many friends have told me that they read my blog and look forward to the reviews of the books I recommend. Those kind of comments make me feel like my efforts are worth it. I have noticed, however, that fewer people are writing comments on my blog posts. I'm hoping to remedy this through a Blogoversary Giveaway.

Here's how to enter:
1.  Must be a  follower of my blog
2.  Answer the question below on the comment section.  I will have a different question twice a week to the end of the month, so technically you can enter seven times. The winner will be awarded a $20 Amazon Gift Card. International entrants welcome.

2a. Heck, if you make a comment on any of my July blog posts and identify yourself as a blogoversary entrant, make some comment about the post and include your email, I'll enter your name. Now technically speaking you could enter to win around 20 times.
3. I will contact you via e-mail if you are a winner.  Include your email address in the comment but do it in such a way that computer drones won't recognize it. (Example: Anne(AT)comcast(DOT)net). The winner will be announced July 31.
4.  Good luck and have fun!

Blogoversary question #1
What is the best book you've read this year so far and why do you think so?

My answer: I just finished Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver. I love her writing. She is such a good wordsmith. The topic of the book--Climate Change-- is an uncomfortable topic but I appreciated the way that she handled the topic.  If you are interested, here is my review.

Now it is your turn. After becoming a Follower, leave a comment in which you answer the question. Don't forget to include your email, so I can contact you if you win. Good luck and I look forward to "getting to know you." In lieu of leaving your email here, you can enter through my new link to rafflecopter.  Good luck.  You can enter every day!

  1. Congratulations on four years of blogging! I've been a follower quite a while and I enjoy your blog.

I also read Flight Behavior this year and although it is not the best read of the year so far for me, I did enjoy it quite a bit. I also liked the focus on a different topic.

The best read of the year so far for me is Life After Life by Kate Atkinson, which I read in April (if I remember correctly). It is a time-bending story of a girl who gets born again and again, and how her different actions have different effect on future events.

  2. I want to read Life after Life! I would say that The Language of Flowers was one of my favorites this year. I've also enjoyed The Light Between Oceans and several young adult books like Days of Blood and Starlight, Legend, etc. I'm loving Flight Behavior, but it's not one of my favorites yet. (not finished)

  5. Barbara Kingsolver is by far one of my favourite authors. I've gotten a bit behind though - I still haven't finished The Lacuna. I just got Flight Behaviors at a thrift store (God I love thrift stores) and I'm SUPER EXCITED to read it!

I think this year I'd have to pick Kristin Cashore's Graceling trilogy (I know, I know 3 books, but still. I'm picking them all!). I feel that it will still be my #1 by the end of the year, but there have been some close followers, so this year is shaping up to be a great reading year for me!

  6. Happy Blogoversary!

Hmmm...best book so far this year? I think that would have to be The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson. It won the Pulitzer for fiction, so I;m not the only one who was blown away by it!
