TTT: Books On My TBR by Authors I've Never Read Before

Top Ten Tuesday:
Books on my TBR by Authors I've Never Read Before

(I often read new-to-me authors. I sure hope these books are good!)

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Everyone tells me this book is so-o good. But 950+ pages in length scares me.

Humboldt's Gift by Saul Bellow
This book won the Pulitzer Prize so I know it is good, or at least was thought of as good the year it won. The author, Saul Bellow, was described by another author as the author everyone read before he went out of style. Hmm. Wonder if I should even keep it on my list?

Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard
Another blogger, Deb Nance, loves this book and I presume, this author. I have read nothing by her.

Corrections by Jonathan Franzen
This book is on so many best-books-lists I know I really should read it but I wonder if it will stand up to test of time, as it was published in 2001 and is another long one, 650+ pages.

The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain
A French author, this would be a perfect book/author to read this month for the Paris in July Challenge.

The Sellout by Paul Beatty
I know nothing about the author and little about the novel except that it is satire and very funny.

2666 by Roberto Bolaño
I keep telling myself to read more world lit
Bolaño is from Chile, and I think this book is set in Mexico. That seems like a good place to start.

The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
My mother used to rave about this book. I know it is historical fiction. Whoops. I see I have read another book by this author, Dreamers of the Day, and it was very good. I am too lazy to take this entry off the list, though.

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Unbelievably I've never read anything by Hawthorne, including this classic. Where was I in high school?

Good enough. I realized as I looked over my TBR list how many books are on it that I really don't care about. There were lots by authors I've never read but if I don't read those books it won't kill me. The books I really cared about were by authors I adore and can't wait to read another book by them. Sigh.
