I looked at Andrius. "Thank you," I said. I put my mittens on his cheeks, pulled his face to mine and kissed him. ---p. 232I am really enjoying this book, a historical novel set in Russia during the same time period as World War II. I am surprised by this teaser myself as I haven't read that far ahead yet.
People discussed the war and how the Germans might save us. For once the bald man said nothing. I wondered if what he said about Hitler was true. Could we be trading Stalin's sickle for something worse? ---p. 72I decided to add another quote because the first one made it seem like the book was a sweet love story. Far from it.

ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by Anne, my book is more of a historical novel. This book is the 3rd in the series, and there are about three main story plots going. The first two were started in the previous books, one is the main character (Elisa) and her new found love are helping smuggle a child out of the reach of the Nazi's. The second is Elisa's friend Leah who just saw her husband taken away, and she must help the other child escape from the country, but they are trekking over the alps. The third is following a family who is traveling aboard a ship headed away from Nazi territory, but no destination as no country has room to take them. Thomas was in love with Elisa, but she was not German like himself.
ReplyDeleteThere are many tense moments, but there is no mystery of a "who done it" sort. But there is a lot of "will they make it?", "does he love me?", and who can you trust? Even within the Nazi ranks there are those who were working against the party, but they play their part well. I do love historical novels, and your sounds like a great follow up to the series that I am reading.
