If you have ever believed the adage that art imitates real life, here is an example for you. Our cat Ichiro, named for the famous baseball player, went to be with his maker today. When I sent my daughters a message about his death, I attached the photo of him, taken four years ago at our back door on a windy October day. I liked the way the leaves color the frame. My daughter, a Charlie Harper fan, took a photo of the art hanging in her house, titled "Purrfectly Perched", and sent it right back with a note how they look identical. Aren't the similarities sublime?
Rest in peace, old man, we will miss you and loved you from the bottom of our hearts. And from your new vantage point I hope you are perfectly perched to keep an eye on us.
-Anne
I'm so sorry--what a beauty! Sending love!

DeleteFrom Daughter Rita:
ReplyDeleteIchiro was the longest living cat I ever had (20 years). When I was in middle school and high school he slept curled under my chin most nights. When I returned from college he had moved on to snuggling with Carly. When she returned from college we were shocked to find he had chosen Dad to be his person. Dad would let him perch on his chest while watching TV.
Ian called him "mean kitty" because in he did not take kindly to small children getting in his face.
You finally get to play with your old pal Socks now Ichiro. Enjoy the afterlife. You deserve it old man.
Awww. So sorry for your loss. Take care...
ReplyDeleteMy deepest condolences and (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteI'm very sad for your loss.
ReplyDeleteUncanny the artwork! So similar ... nice to have a pic of those together. So sorry for his passing.
ReplyDelete20 years?! That's an amazing amount of time for a cat to live and for you to have a wonderful companion. I am sorry sorry that Ichiro has passed on, but so glad you had so much time with him.
