Classics Club SPIN time again

The Classics Club is sponsoring a SPIN again. It is the 15th spin they have sponsored.

What is the spin?
It’s easy.  Before next Friday, March 10th, create a  list of any twenty classic books that remain “to be read” on your list.
This is your Spin List. You have to read one of these twenty books in March and April. Try to challenge yourself. For example, you could list five classic books you are dreading/hesitant to read, five you can’t WAIT to read, five you are neutral about, and five free choice (favorite author, re-reads, ancients — whatever you choose.)
On Friday, C.C. will post a number from 1 through 20. The challenge is to read whatever book falls under that number on your Spin List, by May 1, 2017. C. C. will check in May to see who made it the whole way and finished their spin book!
Join me. Create your own list. Or read along with me. I'm really hoping for a short one this time but with my luck, the winner will be the longest book on the list. Here's my list for this, the 15th Spin event on Classics Club.

(And thanks to CC for organizing this. I have been a pest to get another SPIN going. I know.)

  1. Do the books on the list have to be "classics" or can they just be books I'd like to get read? By the way, Bastard Out of Carolina is really, really good!

    1. Well, no one has busted me for putting books on the list that are newish-classics. What is a classic anyway? I chose half my books off the Pulitzer Prize list of books because, hey, they should be classics if they were chosen for that prize, right?

  2. Great list and thanks for the pestering - I've been doing some too.
I read So Big a couple of spins ago - it's tremendous. Bridge of San Luis Rey was....odd, curious, still not sure what I think about it after several years....

If you change Sound and the Fury to no. 14 you would be reading along with me & Emma - & given everything I've heard about it, reading partners would be a good idea!

    1. OK. I will do that. Good plan. I will shift Sound and the Fury to space number 14.

  3. Glad you pestered - this is only my second spin, but I love them! Your list looks great - I've only read The Grapes of Wrath and Anne of Avonlea, but there are several there that I want to read sometime. Hope you get a good one!

  4. I also have Wild Sargasso Sea in the spin list. I hope I will "have" to read it. It is in my TBR for so long))

    1. Mine, too. It bothers me that I haven't read these books. I wish I had the time to read them all this year.

  5. I see we have a few books and authors in common. But you have some books here that I've been meaning to read for ages. Have fun with the spin!

  7. There are so many books on your list that I'd also love to read! Especially Steinbeck and Daphne Du Maurier.

  8. I really wanted to do this! But I am already beginning Emma, which would have been on my list, so that sort of counts right? Others on my list would have been The Count of Monte Cristo, American Gods, and Anne of Green Gables
