2014 "Deal with the books on your bedside table" Challenge

I received two new books for Christmas this year. The only problem: I still haven't read the three books I received for Christmas last year, nor have I read the two books loaned to me by friends, or touched the books I "had" to buy, or cracked open the A.R. copy of a book that is now in print.  It is time to deal with the books on my beside table. "Deal with" means I may or may not read these books but by the end of 2014 none of these books will be on my bedside table. I may decide to shelf them with other books on the book shelves; I may decide to give them back unread; I may return them to the library half finished. I don't know exactly what I will do with them right now, but I am committed to dealing with them all.

Join me in cleaning off your bedside table of the books that have been languishing there for months or years. Commit  to dealing with them in 2014.

All you have to do is take a picture of your bedside table as it it looks right now. Publish it to your blog or Facebook page and give me the link in the comment section so I can take a look at it.

Don't make this challenge into another guilt trip. Make it one that will actually help destress your reading experience in 2014.

Deal with the books on your bedside table in 2014!

  1. I would love to participate with you on this challenge. I love having another person to discuss books with as well as an accountability partner :) All of my books that I need to read are on my kindle so I don't really have any pictures to show but I know I have more than 35 books to read in order to clear it out. I can't wait to start :)

    1. 35 books on Kindle? Egads. That would keep me busy for months. I'd be happy to help with accountability. Feel free to start before 2014.

  2. I have 300 books on my shelves and kindle that I haven't read yet. So I'm definitely trying to work on those this year.

    1. I have lots of books on my shelves that I haven't read yet, too. This challenge is specifically about the books on my bedside table, One of the books has been on the table for five years. Time to deal with it.

  3. What a marvelous challenge....no bedside books, just shelved waiting to be picked up!

  4. I loved A Confederacy of Dunces when I read it years ago. I keep thinking it's past time for a reread so maybe I'll try the audio this time. I've read a few Kingsolvers and loved them, looks like I need to get to this one.
