Friday Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Today's Hop Question: What is my favorite literary villain?

It depends on how one interprets this question? Favorite meaning a villain that I like? My favorite among villains? Or the most vile of the villains? Hmmm...

I'll choose Humbert Humbert the creepy pedophile in Lolita. Why Humbert? He's despicable but the book is amazing.

Please take a look at my ALA Award Book Challenge and participate in my poll.  Thanks.

  8. Ohhhh, yes, he is a baddie to a horrible degree! My pick would be someone similar - Efron Bane from Nightshade - he is evil, cruel and disgusting!

  11. I completely agree with your synopsis of Humbert Humbert and Lolita. I couldn’t narrow my worst villain’s down to 1 so I picked 5.

I picked Great Expectations in your poll although Hitchhiker was a close 2nd. For whatever reason I'm one of the few people who didn't enjoy Tale of Two Cities???

    Have a great weekend!

  14. I'm torn about whether I should read Lolita. I wonder if it will bring up some interesting emotions because of childhood experiences, but I at the same time, I've heard so many good things about the book.

    Professor James Moriarty.

It took me less than ten seconds to come up with my answer. But you'll

  21. Humbert is definitely a villain. Seems the book doesn't really make him out to be so, though.

  22. I've always liked Snape from Harry Potter... I know, I know, he turns out to be a good guy in the end. But, I was loyal to him from the start, even when everyone still thought he was a baddie.

If I had to choose a villain who is just gross and unlikable though (I'm not sure why you'd call that a "favorite" but, whatever) I'd have to say President Snow from The Hunger Games. He is creeeeepy!

  23. EXCELLENT choice... and I love Lolita!... and another one where the main character is the villian. Love it! :)
